Plastic Bottle Pollution

When it comes to the environment and sustainability it would be far better to choose bottles that are not made from finite resources such as fossil fuels like PET bottles in the first place.

If you fill a plastic bottle with liquid so that it is 25% full, that’s roughly how much oil it took to make the bottle. For a single-use disposable item, that’s a lot!

Choosing bottles made 100% from plants is a far better option and one that is now available across the UK and Europe.

Eco for Life is an amazing product, the bottles are made 100% from plants, some key points.

Bottle made 100% from plants from an annually renewable source, not made from finite fossil fuels like PET (polyethylene terephthalate) bottles

The bottles are therefore chemical free, no chemicals in them to leach into the content.

The bottles are made from PLA (polylactic acid) which is obtained from the dextrose in plants.

Production of PLA produces up to 60% less greenhouse gas than production of PET – every 24 PET bottles made contains 1 litre of oil!

Numerous end of life options for disposal including waste to energy, composting and incineration with production of energy.
As they are produced from a completely organic compound there is absolutely no man-made chemicals within them, so you can be sure that no chemical leaching can happen
They can be recycled into a product that can be used as a valuable soil supplement, the bottles undergo a two-step degradation process. First, the moisture and heat in the compost pile attacks the polymer chains and splits them apart, creating smaller polymers and finally lactic acid, a fully sustainable source. They can also be sent to Waste for Energy sites where they produce a high temperature and burn without releasing pollutant or can be returned back to a polymer.
By simply stemming the tide of non-biodegradable plastic waste we might finally be able to make amends for generations of ignorance and indifference to the huge environmental damage we are doing to this place called home.
Eco for life bottled water wont undo what has already been done but it may just help to stem the tide of plastic pollution and offer a better future for those we love and the future they have.
