An industrial design graduate has joined the in-house design team at Stanley-based Sone Products, to work on creating new and innovative plastic solutions to markets including cosmetics, cosmeceuticals, personal care, healthcare and diagnostics.
Rowan Nowell, who completed a Design for Industry degree at Northumbria University earlier this year, will work alongside the company’s development manager, Ian Jobling, and the design team to develop plastic products for new markets and refine the design of existing products in line with client needs.
Sone states this latest appointment is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to build its design and development function and enhance its capability to offer a full service, from idea generation through to manufacture and delivery.
Speaking about Rowan’s arrival, Ian Jobling commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Rowan to the team. As a newly qualified designer he brings with him complementary skills in the area of functional design that will be really beneficial to our complete solutions offering.”
Talking about his first role in industry, Rowan said: “This is a great opportunity for me to work with an experienced team of designers. I very much look forward to using my design skills in an environment where I can see a product I’ve worked on go right through to manufacture.”
Sone states it currently employs 125 and continues to invest in training in order to skill the region’s next generation of manufacturers.
