Fern Howard
Fern Howard makes high-quality lighting products at its Alton factory, where it has recently invested in capacity expansion.
A UK manufacturer of lighting products has announced an increase in plastic moulding capacity with the installation of new machinery and equipment.
Fern-Howard, which produces high quality luminaires, has recently installed two Negri Bossi machines, a VS330 and a VS430, at its manufacturing facility in Alton, Hampshire.
Complete with Negri Bossi ‘Sytrama’ cartesian robots for efficient operation, these new arrivals bring the company’s machine inventory to 20 - ranging from 35 tonnes to 1000 tonnes clamp force.
The two new moulding machines have been complimented by what it says is a “significant investment” in a high capacity Piovan material drying and piped handling system and join a dedicated poured gasket seal facility and extensive finishing abilities.
Fern-Howard says its injection moulding expertise – producing components with a shot weight of a few grams to 3.5kg – is already well regarded, especially in lighting where it can reach the stringent standards and close tolerances that industry demands.
