The winner of the first Horners and Cogent Gold Standard Polymer Apprentice of the Year award has been announced.
Amy Louise Keenan, an 18-year-old Quality Process Technician at Rosti UK, won the award after being nominated by her employer.
After obtaining excellent grades in her Scottish Standard and Higher examinations, Amy chose to become an Apprentice Toolmaker. The East Kilbride Group Training Association, a specialist provider to the engineering industry, subsequently raised the qualification to a Quality Engineering apprenticeship.
In a year off the job at Langside College, Amy received an outstanding award for achievement in engineering and was top of her class in the National Certificate Course in Engineering.
Amy’s Senior Manager, John Savage, commented: “Amy demonstrates maturity beyond her age, and is a model employee respected by all other departments. Her dedication to work and college in the face of internal and external pressures deserves the highest commendation.”
