Polyamides

Polyamides are a group of materials that can occur naturally, such as wool or silk, or are artificially produced such as nylons.  All polyamides are made by the formation of an amide function to link two molecules of monomer together.

Nylons are largely considered to be the most important of the amide polyamides as they are an extremely versatile material and an indispensable fibre and plastic. They also provide robust chemical resistance although can be attacked by strong acids, alkalis and alcohols.

Polyamides have a wide variety of applications and are key within the automotive, clothing, packaging and textile industries.
